                                           "Beat Ya Feet"

"Beat Ya Feet" was created by Marvin Gross AKA Slush of the Barry Farms community, located in the South East region of Washington DC. He gave birth to this dance style by fusing hand dancing movements with the Hee Haw, another native dance of the metropolitan area, created in the 90’s by the acclaimed Junkyard Band, also of the Barry Farms community.

Beat Ya Feet is an urban art form of dance that originated in Washington, DC and is performed mostly to go-go music, a rhythmic, percussion dependent style of music (mostly played by local District bands). Beat Ya Feet has evolved overtime through the creativity of DC’s inner city talent. Much credit goes to the DC Beat Ya Feet Kings and newly formed groups such as the Flat out Boyz, Swagg Starz, Show Out Dance Crew along with key individuals for there important roles in extending and spreading the beat ya feet movement. Da Originalz are responsible for creating all of the newest styles, accustomed to the new era of go-go music. “The Bounce Beat.”
